Shopping is a great time to bond with children. They get to observe the different activities and colors around them. Even grocery time is already such a learning experience.
How does it become a learning experience?
When you go to the store with your child, do not be lost in your own world. Get the child involved in the choosing. Identify the different items, colors, and pictures to her. She would greatly appreciate it. When paying, tell your child what is going on and why is it needed. If they are still very young, that’s fine, they will just like the sound of your voice.
One friend of mine recalls that her child would often observe the barcode scanners at the supermarket and then would follow the sounds…toot…toot…toot…in the same beat as the scanner. It may be funny, but that is already a learning experience for the child.
