I think Smokey really can see the heat!
High heat near the ceiling, and of course the warmth of the refrigerator when it is running probably gives them a double dose of kitty happiness. Hope you are feeling some cheer soon.

nice beautiful cats.. though I am allergic to pets, i make sure that I drink my medz so that I can play with my nephew's cat..=)
Of course, truly smart animals would just hover near the heat register...
